Area of a rectangle = length times width.

Here, the area is (5 yd)(4 yd) = 20 yd^2. We must convert this into ft^2:

20 yd^2 3 ft

------------ * { ----------- }^2

1 1 yd

The comes out to (20)(3)^9, or 180 ft^3, the area in square feet.

5 yards = 15 feet

4 yards = 12 feet

15*12 = 180 ft^2
