split -10x = -3x - 7x

3x^2 - 3x - 7x + 7
group terms factor gcf

(3x^2 - 3x) + (-7x +7)
3x(x - 1) - 7(x - 1)

since parenthesis are same (x -1) combine outside factors

= (3x - 7)(x - 1)
