The Chinese Writing System has certain characters, and are words, not just pictures describing something.

Chinese writing is different from cuneiform and hieroglyphics because the Chinese Writing system doesn't only use pictures for writing. The Chinese used symbols and letters to help improve the alphabet we use today.
